GRAPHICS & DIGITAL MEDIA Student Submission Guidelines (NOTE: The below outlines submission criteria for work done for Graphic’s and Digital Media (GRA and DIG) courses only. The guidelines and deadlines for submitting work completed in ART courses is different than what is on this posting for GRA courses. Please stop by the Fine Art Dept. in Building 3-115 for submission guidelines for work completed in ART courses – e.g. ART1300C.)

Work Eligible: Any work produced in conjunction within a Valencia Graphics or Digital Media class (any course with a GRA or DIG prefix) from Summer session 2017 through Spring session 2018. Please make sure the prints you submit are clean and professional enough to display in the gallery AS-IS before submitting it for judging (no need for mounting or framing)!

Presentation of Submitted Work: Flat, printed graphics work: needs to be presented in a way that isn’t sloppy or unprofessional. The print should be at a high enough quality that it can be shown as-is on the gallery walls if it’s chosen. If the work is small (smaller than 11 x 17) or if it is multiple smaller elements needing to be shown together, feel free to mount it onto black-on-black presentation board so long as the board is not larger than 13 x 19 (a larger board will be too floppy). Prints that are 12 x 18 and larger should NOT be mounted.

3D work (such as package design, books, etc.): should be submitted in their finished 3D form and delivered in a container (like a box) to protect the contents from wear and tear that might occur while the work is in transit for judging and/or gallery setup. NOTE: Accepted work will be displayed in the gallery AS SUBMITTED! Generally 3D work is displayed on a pedestal, so you will want your work to look good from all sides/angles. You may also choose to submit a professional photograph of your 3D work, however, keep in mind the quality of the photograph will be important in the judging process.
Interactive/web projects: Provide URL or submit on a USB. All files/folders should be clearly named so they match those on the submission forms. An entry form for EACH web or interactive entry project needs to be filled out and all entry forms should be attached to the disk. NOTE: Accepted work will presented on a computer in the gallery AS SUBMITTED!

Work Delivery Deadline for Judging: Friday, MARCH 23th (no later than 8pm) to our EAST Campus Graphics Lab in 1-213. You may also drop off your work in the WEST or OSCEOLA Campus Graphics Labs! West Campus drop off will be Friday the 24th by 1pm; which will give them time to transport West entries to the East campus for judging. Osceola Campus drop off will be Thursday, the 23rd by lab closing (in 1-246). Each entry MUST have a completed entry form (including ALL of the colored copies) taped to the back in the lower right hand corner. Entry forms can be obtained in the East, West and Osceola Graphics labs.

Judging of Work: The judging of the work will take place on Saturday, March 24th.

Pickup of Unaccepted Work: All declined work must be picked up by Monday, April 10th in room 1-213 on the East Campus. It’s possible a representative from our West and Osceola Campuses are kind enough to transport declined work to your respective campus for pickup. Any declined work left in the lab for longer than 3 weeks will be recycled.

Accepted Work: All accepted work will be taken to the gallery directly from the Graphics judging area on or before Monday, April 3rd. A list of accepted Graphics work will be posted in the entry way of the East Campus Graphics area outside of 1-213 by Friday, April 8th and posted on this blog. All accepted work has the chance of being assigned an award, however, you must attend the Exhibition Opening Night in order to find out if your work won.
