AIGA Orlando – SPOT 2010

Guest Speaker:
Randy J. Hunt is Interaction Design Director at Etsy [http://etsy.com], the world’s largest social commerce marketplace. He is founder of Citizen Scholar Inc. [http://citizenscholar.com], a small design studio started in 2005 working with many artists, educators, and organizations including Do Something, U.S. Peace Corps, and Japan Society. In the past, he co-founded Supermarket [http://supermarkethq.com], a curated design marketplace, and worked at Milton Glaser Inc. and Number 17. Hunt writes and lectures about design, and has been a visiting designer at Parsons, Pratt, Mississippi State, Portland State, and the Hartford Art School. In 2009 he was named a New Visual Artist by Print. Hunt is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and received his MFA in design from the School of Visual Arts.

Portfolio Review:
A panel of Orlando’s top creatives will be available for casual one-on-one portfolio reviews with students and professionals alike at this year’s SPOT. This review is open to anyone for a fee of $15. Please contact programming@orlando.aiga.org by May 8th. All portfolio reviewees must arrive by 5:45pm day of event.

Mentorship Program Exhibit:
A special case where being covered in spots looks real good. In the AIGA Mentorship Program, student members and professional members are matched and collaborate over four months to encourage creative and professional growth. SPOT is the culminating event for the program and the resulting work is the spotlight for the evening. The winning work is given a $500 scholarship presented by AIGA Orlando!
