2009 Annual Juried Student Fine Art & Graphics Art Exhibition

{HURRY THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT WORK IS WEDNESDAY THE 25TH BY 9PM!!}

GRAPHICS Student Submission Guidelines (NOTE: the guidelines for submitting work completed in ART courses is different than what is on this blog posting. Please stop by the Fine Art Dept. for submission guidelines for work completed in ART courses – e.g. ART1300C.)

Work Eligible: Any work produced in conjunction within a Valencia Graphics class (any course with a GRA prefix) from Summer session 2008 through Spring session 2009. Students may enter 2 pieces from each class taken. Work does not have to be submitted mounted, however, since judging is a very subjective process it’s probably best to make sure your work is presented in a way that isn’t sloppy or unprofessional.

Work Delivery Deadline for Judging: Wednesday February 25th (no later than 9pm) to room 1-213. Each entry MUST have a completed entry form taped to the back of the lower right hand corner. Entry forms can be obtained on the East Campus in room 1-213 or 3-115.

Judging of Work: The judging of the work will take place on Friday, February 27th.

Pickup of Accepted and Unaccepted Work: Monday & Tuesday March 2 & 3 in room 1-213. Students with accepted work will be provided with instructions on how to prepare their work and the deadlines for resubmitting their work for gallery display. Preparation of

Work for the Gallery & Deadline to Submit for Gallery Display: Since work accepted in the show must be hung in the gallery, you will be asked to prepare each 2D work for a professional showing. Generally graphics work is displayed mounted onto a black presentation board and then plexiglass with plexiglass clips are used. Framing, if prefered, is acceptable as well. The deadline to get your accepted work ready for the gallery and dropped off in the Graphics Lab (1-213) is March 25th.

Exhibition Opening Date: Friday April 17 – The reception is from 6:30 – 9:30pm and the awards ceremony in the PAC is at 7:30pm.

Exhibition Closing Date: Monday May 18.

Deadline for Picking Up Work After Exhibition Ends: Monday June 1st (in 1-213). Any work that is not picked up by that time may be used to decorate the Graphics Lab walls.

UPDATE (2.19.2009): The Awesome team at Lure Design Inc. has agreed to judge this year’s student show entries. Judging will take place on Friday morning, February 27th, 2009. We’ll share the results of who has made it into the show after the final work has been chosen for the show.

    BTW... the forms say at the bottom "Student- Keep pink copy" but... there is no pink copy. There's the yellow copy? Are we supposed to keep the yellow copy? Just wanted to make sure before I go taping forms to the back of my entries... :)

    Lorena

    I noticed that too. I already submitted my stuff and kept the yellow copies.

    I imagine Kristy may be able to clarify this one. I know in the past they use to have one to accompany the entry, one for administrative purposes to help us keep track of all the entries that make it into the show, and one for the student.

    if there are three copies, then just keep one. if there are only two copies, we could probably use the one you took with you more than you can use it. ;-)
