Spring '08 Internship Opportunity with the American Lung Association

Students: If you are interested in this or other internship don’t forget you need to first have completed the prerequisites for GRA 2942, apply on-line and attend the Graphics Internship Orientation on Dec 6th. See the announcement on the blog for details about the orientation.

Intern with the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States. Acquire real on-the-job experience through our shadow based internships. Attend meetings, presentations, events and much more. The mission of the American Lung Association® is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.

Special Events
This student will assist the Director of Special Events with the various non-profit operations, development of special events activities. Some student experience will include work with event planning, management, donor development, membership management, database management, fundraising and event logistics. Students will work with media outlets, press releases, minor graphic design work and volunteer management.

Public Relations
This student will assist with all public relations duties associated with our office. Development and distribution of press releases, contact person for media relations, respond to legislative issues, market our campaigns and much more.

Marketing
This student will work with corporate sponsors, creation of marketing proposals, assist with donor cultivation, board management, promotion of events, and some event logistics

Graphic Design
This student will work on the creation of materials for all events and print materials for the American Lung Association. Will work closely with printing companies to implement job.

Development
Assist Director of Development in Hi-end major gift fundraising and development. Working to build relationships with donors contributing $1,000 to $100,000 annually. This program is a great experience for anyone considering a long term career in non-profit management.

Volunteerism
This student will work with the volunteer coordinator on the volunteer program. Will work on recruitment and management of volunteers, work with staff to craft volunteer projects, learn database system for volunteers and much more.

Programming
This student will assist the Program Director with implementation of the various mission related activities of the Orlando office. This includes programs in elementary and high schools that combat Asthma and Teen Smoking. This student will be trained as an instructor of the national “Open Airways for Schools” program. Student experience will include health care issue management, volunteer management, community awareness campaigns and public advocacy.

Executive
This student will work directly with the Executive Director, and work on all activities of the ALA. They will attend presentations, board meetings, events, etc. This student will work on fundraising, programming, advocacy issues and much more.

* A $500 Stipend is offered for those students completing the program.
