Scholastic in need of a Graphic Designer
Scholastic based in Lake Mary, FL is looking for a graphic designer. Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books.
Description:
- The graphic designer is responsible for the concept, design, formatting, and execution of marketing materials for Scholastic Book Fairs under the direction of the art director and marketing director.
- With art director and marketing directors ensure consistency of the brand image/message.
- Work with production managers to maintain schedules, manage priorities, maintain high quality standards, and work within budget.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Produces final electronic files for printing and posting on internet. Involved in every stage of preparation of pre-flighting materials for pre-press for printing.
- Remain current on latest trends and styles in marketing to children and adults.
- Maintain confidentiality of themes, directions, pricing, vendors, tactics, and marketing materials.
- Accuracy and efficient in design file preparation
Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of business experience in an agency, corporate advertising, or marketing department.
- Extensive experience with Macintosh-based programs including InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator and Acrobat. Knowledge of Web-based applications is helpful but not required.
- Must have a detailed knowledge of printing and printing processes.
- Excellent design, typographic and production skills.
- Self-motivated individual who instinctively provides creative inspiration and out-of-the-box thinking.
- Experience in Scanning and Photo Retouching / Color Correction.
- Ability to communicate effectively and make presentations. Contribute to a positive team environment.
- Ability to take direction and work in a creative team environment both independently and when directed, overtime work when needed.
- Ability to accept criticism and rework.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Self-starter, organized and flexible to handle multiple tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design/arts or related discipline preferred.
- Must possess a strong portfolio of work.
