We've gone pro!

That’s right – today we decided to upgrade to the Flickr pro account to keep the inspirational student work going online. The pro account will enable us to upload even more images and get more organized with what we are posting in Flickr. So we’re working on adding some of the best student projects to the Flickr account to showcase the excellent work everyone has been creating. We’ve also started to use sets to organize the work by projects or classes. For instance, I had the pleasure of joining Kristy’s typography course this past week and it’s such an inspiration to see the typography posters – well, we now have a set for some of the typography posters from this semester and previous semesters. Now you guys can get inspired by this great collection of student work. And we’ll be adding to the collection for this course and many others as more work is created. You can also expect to see us post some snapshots taken in and around the lab as well as other student experiences and events.

As you view photos you’ll probably notice that we’ve added tags to the images online to help you quickly search for similar photos. For instance, if we add an image that you have created we will add a tag with your name. By clicking on the tag you can then view all of the images we have in flickr that we have tagged with your name.

Anyhow, I just thought I’d inform you all – it’s official, we’re “pro”!

I think flickr will be a great way for Valencia's Graphics Program to showcase our student work to the world. Since a lot of professionals may search for content on flickr, there's a lot of potential for a particular student's work to get noticed by people in the industry. This will give both Valencia Community College, as well as the students, a good reputation. It'll really help to put us on the map and get our name out there. I also think this will be good for students to look at to get ideas and to understand the standards that are required for quality graphic design work. So overall, I think having a flickr Pro account for Valencia's Graphics Program is a great way for us to continue to move forward.
