STUDENT JURIED SHOW ENTRY INFORMATION

The deadline to enter work for the annual juried student show on East Campus is coming up soon. Below is important information for entering. Students, select only your best work that you instructor’s felt were exceptional. Professional designers will judge the work submitted and select work for the show as well as those that will receive monetary awards.

Deadline for submitting graphics or interactive work for judging:
Thurs, Feb 28, 9 pm East Campus Graphics Lab bldg. 1 room 215.
ANY WORK FROM EAST FINE ARTS COURSE MUST BE TAKEN TO THE FINE ARTS AREA – NOT GRAPHICS.

Rules for entering work:

  • You may submit up to 2 pieces from each graphics course taken within the last year on any campus.
  • Entry is free so we encourage everyone.
  • You must Fill out the entry form COMPLETELY for each piece submitted (forms available in the Graphics lab) and attach to work following directions provided with the form.

Note: some awards are purchase awards – which means the person presenting the award would get to keep it. If you are not willing to part with the work then state that on the form so your work cannot be purchased. Often they are the highest value awards though.

Preparation for submission:

  • Print work should be mounted on black matte board – examples in the lab
  • Interactive work on CD or DVD
  • 3-D, such as packaging design assembled and/or matted

If you have work selected for the show, final preparation for the show will need to be completed by the due date posted when you enter your work (April 4th likely). Directions for preparation will be provided in the lab.

Show opening and awards ceremony will be April 18, East campus Atrium/Gallery and the PAC

Fine Arts entry requirements and delivery location are different though the deadlines are the same. Contact  Barbara Peterson, Kristy Pennino, Amanda Kern or Dennis Santspree for more information.

Oh tightttt.... so who is going to judge the work?

Sean Hartman from SquareFactor locally and Karen Salmansohn from New York. Karen will also be speaking at Valencia while she's in town so keep on the lookout for announcements! (In the meantime, save the date: Friday February 29th in the East Campus PAC at 6pm). ;-)

Does the actual mounted pieces have to be turned in on the 28th along with the forms?
  • Posted: February 16, 2008 00:00

    Amanda Kern

Yes, printed work should be mounted (unless it's 3 dimensional - i.e. product packaging). Be sure to submit each piece with the form that will be used during judging. If work is accepted you will have to prepare your work to be displayed in the gallery during the show - but we'll be sure to update you all on that once we know what work has been accepted into the show.

When is the Awards night? I will be there early on the 28th to submit my work... but I am leaving to go out of town for a wedding that night. Just out of curiosity will they be excepting work earlier than the 28th, it says that the deadline is 9pm.
