    This position is now open because I am leaving. I've worked with OfficeMax Impress on and off for about 4 years, and I've been at this store in Altamonte for 8 months. I've recommended to the store manager that he hires someone from the Valencia Graphics program, since I can attest to the quality of work that comes from the students. If anyone has any questions or wants an honest, no B-S assessment about the position, just email me. The design work won't be the most amazing you've ever done, but you'll learn how to work fast, multitask, and manage your time if anything. They've got a good team over there and you'll enjoy working with a lot of them. Good luck!

        As far as I know they still haven't hired anyone. Basically you'd be consulting the customer and designing on the Mac. Impress charges for DTP by the minute so you'll have to quote the customer up front. Customers are cheap, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean you have to sell yourself short. They get what they pay for, just remember that. Most of the work you would do would be stuff that is quick and under an hour. It wouldn't really be anything portfolio quality - that's the truth. On a positive note though, you will learn how to multitask, work in a fast pace environment, and learn more about digital printing. You'll have to learn how to run Xerox laser printers and binding equipment plus help out at the counter and the register. Depending on the production work load, you may spend about 25-50% of your shift on DTP. Go apply and tell Blane Christine sent ya! :)
