Harcourt seeks eProduct Developer

Harcourt seeks a fulltime eProduct Developer for it’s digital media department to assist in production of eBooks (web-based versions of textbooks) for Science, and other disciplines.

Basic job function(s) will include:

  • Acquire digital working files from a central database
  • Manipulate and edit images in Photoshop
  • Modify assets as needed, and insert them into HTML pages
  • Add Flash files, links to videos, audio tracks, and other multimedia elements to HTML pages
  • Ensure eBook design and functionality meet all product requirements and editorial standards
  • Proof and test eBooks for typos and functional problems, and correct errors
  • Assist in various design and development tasks for the eBook
  • Assist with all efforts assigned to project including making copies, marking text, and keeping up schedules
  • Offer suggestions for improving processes and procedures

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • Experience using text editors such as GoLive and Dreamweaver required
  • Experience producing HTML documents required, hard coding experience a plus
  • Photoshop experience required
  • Adobe Acrobat a plus
  • InDesign experience a plus
  • Experience managing XML documents a plus
  • Knowledge of cascading style sheets a plus
