Harcourt seeks eProduct Developer
Harcourt seeks a fulltime eProduct Developer for it’s digital media department to assist in production of eBooks (web-based versions of textbooks) for Science, and other disciplines.
Basic job function(s) will include:
- Acquire digital working files from a central database
- Manipulate and edit images in Photoshop
- Modify assets as needed, and insert them into HTML pages
- Add Flash files, links to videos, audio tracks, and other multimedia elements to HTML pages
- Ensure eBook design and functionality meet all product requirements and editorial standards
- Proof and test eBooks for typos and functional problems, and correct errors
- Assist in various design and development tasks for the eBook
- Assist with all efforts assigned to project including making copies, marking text, and keeping up schedules
- Offer suggestions for improving processes and procedures
Desired Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- Experience using text editors such as GoLive and Dreamweaver required
- Experience producing HTML documents required, hard coding experience a plus
- Photoshop experience required
- Adobe Acrobat a plus
- InDesign experience a plus
- Experience managing XML documents a plus
- Knowledge of cascading style sheets a plus
