Study Abroad in the Dominican Republic

Valencia’s Study Abroad  & Global Exchange (SAGE) Office offers Service Learning in the Dominican Republic!

Do you have a desire to help others?  Are you interested in photography, graphic design, descriptive writing, interviewing people, assessing community needs, and/or developing business plans?   Then you may want to accompany Valencia students and faculty on this amazing service trip to the village of La Cucarita, Dominican Republic.  You will survey the conditions and interact with residents of this tiny, remote mountain community; then work collaboratively with them and your fellow group members to propose ways and means for the community to improve its standard of living.  You will also collaborate to write and design a book with and about the people in the villages. While doing this, you will be experiencing a new culture, improving your Spanish, and making new friends.  This trip gives you an opportunity to learn and serve, to put classroom learning to work, and to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others.  Open to Valencia students only.
