Valencia Graphic Design Group

So for everyone who does not know me, my name is Jason Ellison and I am the current president of Valencia’s Graphic Design Group (GDG). What? You’ve never heard of the GDG? Perhaps you have and you’re not sure if you want to get involved? Well let me take a moment to tell you about the group. GDG is a place where graphics students gather together and work on projects for real world clients and discuss topics related to the graphic design industry. Sounds like a mini graphics firm, right? Well, we like to think of it that way! It gives you an opportunity to gain experience while you’re still in school. So you have the opportunity to gain experience, network, and possibly get compensated for your work.

This semester is gauranteed to be a good one. For the first meeting we have several clients to bring to the table and they are waiting for our student’s excellent design skills. We’re also scheduled to discuss an event for this coming November with a guest speaker. The GDG is for a first time designer as well as experienced students. So come to our kickoff on Thursday Sept. 7, GET SOME FREE PIZZA and learn more about how you can get involved in the group.

Can’t wait to learn more? Check out our site.

Jason, Do you have a location for this meeting (and future meetings)? In the past it's been in building 1 room 215 on East campus at 1pm.

I hear you bro I live in Saint Cloud... So it is tough on gas , but like I said it is fun and you get to meet up with some clients ... so its a win/lose situation. I would go to the meetings if I could but I cant now since Im workin all the time :( ... or can I still be a member? Like give the 5 dollars and then help out with client projects and stuff, but not be in the meetings? Jason... Amanda??? anyone?? haha

You CAN still be a member of GDG even if you can't attend all meetings. You are encouraged to attend because this will help you stay in the loop but they email out all members with updates and I hope to see us switching to using google groups to increase communications. But you can still participate if you can't come to all meetings.

You should all join. This group helped Amanda and I become better supervisors. In the industry we both have/had jobs in which we manage design personel and interacted with clients. I still wear my 3 shirts proudly at work.

Yay! The free t-shirt is definitely just one of many reasons to join. By the way - to confirm the meeting will be 1pm next Thursday Sept. 7th in bldg 1 room 215 on east campus. We hope to see you all then!

The first meeting will be held in 1-215 at 1:00pm...get there on time though because we have a lot of jobs to talk about for the first day. Look forward to seeing all of you there. Yes Efrain you can still be a member and not come to the meetings. Holly will be sending out the minutes for this semester and if you are on her membership list she will send you what clients we will be working with. And if anyone wants to do the same you can do that too...but we really encourage everyone to be there. Since i work in the lab, I would be happy to explain any further information about any of the clients on the minutes. SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!

Hmmm. This is evidence for my web students - most web users don't read they scan. Sorry Tyson. :) Last sentence of the posting: So come to our kickoff on Thursday Sept. 7, GET SOME FREE PIZZA and learn more about how you can get involved in the group. I will bold that and make it all caps so we make sure we grab everyone's attention. It's another reason to come by to see what the group is about. So yes, again to all, FREE PIZZA. We know that's an important staple food for many college students. :)

Whoops, your right I missed that part; it should have been bold anyways we all know that is the most important part of the meetings, J/K. Thanks for the clarifying :)

Hmm... it's pretty important to me, HAHA, sounds like some good incentive to drive an hour and a half.
