International Accolades! – 10 images for Ithaca
Please be sure to congratulate Valencia Graphics Student, Daniel Rebman for being an international finalist in this year’s 10 Images for Ithica poster competition!!
(copied from their website: www.tenimages.org):
Our jury had quite a lot of work to do since the number of posters we received exceeded by far every previous year. We received as a whole 1900 posters from 1257 participants from 70 countries!
We would like to thank all those who sent their work and we look forward to welcome you in Ithaca on the 12th of July for the award ceremony and the opening of the two exhibitions for the ten winners and the 123 finalists as well as the poster exhibition “20 years to know” organised by Apeiron Photos
The competitions’ theme for 2008 was the “dream“. As a group, the posters constitute a multidimensional recording of what the word “dream” can mean to each one of us: a means of escape, a wish, an almost mathematical function, a processing machine for images and emotions, something inexplicable or absurd or even a product.
“Ten Images for Ithaca” is a poster competition. It began in 2002, by Fimios, Cultural Events of the Municipality of Ithaca, Greece, as an attempt to reinforce the cultural profile of the island, through the applied arts. Throughout the years, the competition has evolved to a whole group of events and exhibitions, so that, today, it is considered a point of interest for professionals, students and, generally, people that are interested in graphic arts. The contest’s main goal is not only to accent Ithaca as a meeting point for creative people from all over the planet, but, also, to help create ideas that promote the art of visual communication.
