Welcome New Graphics Students!

I’m sure many of our veteran blog posters have noticed there are many new students posting on the blog lately. This is part of a new Tutorial to help them get more quickly acquainted with fellow graphics students, professionals, and fans, such as yourself, and hopefully come to appreciate this rich resource and participate with you on the blog in future times. Why wait until later for them to reap the benefits of sharing their thoughts, questions and concerns as well as stay informed of opportunities to become a part of this rich design community?? Don’t you wish you had access to this resource sooner?

Next time you get the chance, introduce yourself to these new graphics students you’re seeing in the lab or those who are posting on the blog. You remember what it was like to feel a bit distant the first semester, right? And you know how useful it is to be connected to your fellow classmates. So share some of the love. You know they might not be as knowledgeable about design as you are, but you’ll soon come to see they are just as willing to learn and share. Maybe with a few helpful connections and a point in the right direction, you might learn something from them as well?

Welcome aboard new graphics students! We hope to see you all posting in the future!

Hello new students and old, I've been taking classes since last fall, and I have made some connections... but I work full time, and can't attend the graphic design group meetings or social events... is there any way we could make an effort to have at least one event or meeting after hours for students like me who'd like to get involved, but can't due to work schedule? I can even help with planning. :)

hi beth. although our group meetings are scheduled from 1 - 2pm on thursdays due to campus scheduling requirements, ALL of the events that are hosted by them and by local organizations have always been and will continue to be after hours. this is so that most students and professionals can attend.

Great idea, Kristy. Getting these students involved early will help them feel part of something bigger. Small world, but we went to Bonefish for our anniversary dinner and of course, our waiter was an aspiring graphic designer. I couldn't believe how much he already knew about Valencia and the great Graphics program. You'll be hearing from him I'm sure as soon as he saves up enough money.
