Want to be an editorial cartoonist?
Here’s a great opportunity I ran across in today’s Orlando Sentinel newspaper:
Attention aspiring editorial cartoonists. Send the Orlando Sentinel your best effort at editorial cartooning. The Sentinel will publish a handful of the best entries at the beginning of 2008.
The topics? Take your pick, but the Orlando Sentinel is particularly interested in cartoons that comment on local topics such as growth, crime and traffic, as well as on political personalities such as mayors or members of county commissions.
Some advice: Draw only in black ink (no pencil sketches) on white, unlined paper. Stick to one topic, and keep your illustration and any caption simple. Be sure to include your full name and age as well as complete address and phone number.
By sending your cartoon, you give the Sentinel the right to publish such work both in the newspaper and on the internet.
Submissions must be received no later than December 12, 2007. Mail your cartoon to Editorial Cartoons, MP-12, the Orlando Sentinel, 633 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL 32801-1349.
