Flickr's Storage Glitch = Free Pro Account contest

Now you all know I have recently learned to live by Flickr so though it’s a bit disappointing to hear that they are down temporarily, I must say they’re doing an great job handling the situation. What’s happened? Flickr claims to have had a temporary storage failure so they are in the process of transfering data. They mentioned they are moving 20 terabytes thousands of miles and have reassured us that “ALL PHOTOS AND DATA ARE SAFE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN LOST.” Talk about a move! I am sure in time we’ll hear more. But in the mean time, good news – while we wait for the site to return to normal Flickr has posted a nice little contest. You see while they are busy transferring files you can print out this page that they’ve posted informing everyone that their “tubes are clogged”. Simply create whatever you like in the “tubes”, upload it to Flickr once they are back online, and tag it with “flickrcolourcontest” – and you’ll be in the running for a Free Flickr Pro Account.

In printed photos you have to worry about lost, worn, torn or even photos that were in a fire. I would hate for all of us to lose our Flickr images due to this storage glitch – but you have to agree it could be worse. So if you’re wondering where our Flickr photos are – there’s the scoop. Before you know it you’ll be back to enjoying our awesome images in Flickr. (I hope!) 😉

No - they would just credit them with a year more of a pro account. So it actually helps keep them!

I never really used Flick until I came to this class. I find it to be incredibly useful and much better than google's 'image search.' I'm thinking about opening a pro account, but I'm not sure if I want to upload any of my photos yet. Photography is a hobby of mine so maybe it would be good if my work gets some exposure, no pun intended. ^_^

Just thought I'd pass on that Jason's few minutes of hard work on our flickr coloring contest entry won us a month additional of flickr pro. :)
