Photoshop World Update – Day 3
The last day at the conference was certainly a change of pace for most of us. The day was scheduled to end early in the afternoon so NAPP scheduled early bird sessions in addition to the normal classes. Today there was no tech expo, where exhibitors showcased products for discount prices – that certainly seemed to have an effect on how jam packed today’s classes were. Every single class we went to was standing room only. Here are a few highlights of some of our experiences today:
- It was a no brainer that one of the best and most useful classes of the seminar was presented by Katrin Eismann on the topic of masking and selections. It’s always amazing to find innovative and quick ways to select some of the toughest things in photos. She demo’d some amazing photos that demonstrated how to handle selecting people with frizzy hair and buildings with fine details. In case you are interested in learning more about some of her techniques, but can’t make it to some of the conferences, the next best thing is her book Photoshop Masking & Compositing. It’s definitely worth adding to your photoshop book collection, along with Photoshop Restoration & Retouching.
- I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a few of the last copies left of the nearly 800 page conference workbook. I hope to hold a workshop soon to share some of the great resources we’ve learned – and it looks like I’ve got quite a few door prizes. 🙂
- We found the last few classes of the day to be too crammed and hot to stand in for more than twenty minutes so a few of us ended up walking around nearby at the Prudential Tower to take some amazing aerial photos of Boston. I also got the chance to walk around a bit and snap some additional photos of some of the Boston downtown scenery. We were a bit disappointed to miss out on some of the final classes, but to be honest – taking photos was just as much fun!
Check out some of the photos taken in Boston. And I also started a set with a few photos from Photoshop World.
I’m sure some of the other students at the conference who weren’t with me might have more things to share as well.
Hopefully you guys have enjoyed the updates. Expect to see a conference wrap-up post soon with more useful resources.
