Valencia Graphics Scholarships

It’s that time of year again to begin thinking of financial aid for the upcoming year. We’re pleased to announce a few scholarship opportunities for graphics students at Valencia. We have the following scholarships available for Valencia graphics students:

Graphics and Altrusa Scholarships
Valencia has made available 6 scholarships for up to 2 art and/or graphics courses (6 credit hours) for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 semesters.

Robin Ambrose Graphic Design Scholarship
Through the generosity of former Valencia graphics professor, Andrea Young and her husband Wayne Hoit, we will now be awarding the Robin Ambrose Graphic Design Scholarship. The scholarship was donated in memory of former Valencia Graphics Professor, Robin Ambrose, who passed away last year due to complications with cancer. This is a $1,000 scholarship for Fall 2007-Summer 2008 calendar year. To apply for this scholarship you must show financial need.

Selection Criteria
The following criteria will be used to select the recipients of the scholarships:

• Quality of work
• Attitude and Motivation
• Previous performance in courses
• Need (mandatory for Robin Ambrose scholarship)
• Degree seeking in either Valencia Graphics specialization

Application Process

1. Submit either a print or interactive cd portfolio (or combination) with 8-10 examples of your best work to date, personal or in-class projects. Projects may be a combination of fine art, graphic, and web/interactive design.
2. Request 2 recommendations from previous instructors to be emailed or mailed to: Barbara Peterson, Graphics Technology – bpeterson@valenciacc.edu
3. Type a one page statement of why you should be selected to receive a scholarship. Should include career goals/interest, motivation, need, etc.
4. Attach a copy of your unofficial transcript to application form
5. Complete Scholarship Application, retain top portion and submit form, statement and portfolio to:
