Student Show Presentation Requirements & Deadlines
If your work was accepted into the Student Show you must follow the presentation requirements so that it may be displayed in the gallery for the Annual Juried Art Exhibition. You should follow the recommendations listed below as guidelines on how to present your work.
Work should be mounted on black mount board. Be sure to take care in how the work is adhered to the board and the board should be cleanly cut. It is recommended that projects have approximately 1.5″ to 2″ margins around the work. Exceptions can be made for posters or similar that would look more appropriate framed with no border. Use your best judgment when allowing for a margin. Depending upon the size of the project you may need black foam board to help support the project. Obviously some projects such as product packaging, books, etc. will be encased by the gallery curator, therefore no additional work is needed for three dimensional objects.
Uniframe are clear invisible supports used to protect your work from warping and holds your piece in place so that it can be hung for display. Costs are approximately $5-10 depending upon the size needed. Uniframe supports can be purchased from local art stores such as Sam Flax, Artsystems, or Pearl.
Plexiglass will be needed to cover and protect your project(s). Plexiglass can be purchased from various locations to include art stores, home depot, lowes, or local plastic suppliers such as Farco plastics or faulkner plastics. Plexiglass should be custom cut to the final size of the mounted piece. Prices will vary depending upon the size of the piece.
It is recommended that you NOT wait until the last minute to purchase supplies. In previous years supplies such as the Uniframe are limited due to the high demand during the Art Exhibition.
You are again reminded that ALL accepted project must be resubmitted no later than April 4th. You may drop off your work in the lab on east campus or take it directly to the gallery.
