Annual Juried Graphics and Art Student Show Entry Deadline

The deadline to enter work for the Annual Juried Graphics and Art Student Show on East Campus is coming up soon! Submit only your best work that demonstrates strength in all three categories: creativity, concept and technique. Professional designers will be judging submissions and selecting only those they consider the best to be included in the show as well as decide those that will receive awards. Below is important information for entering:

Deadline for submitting graphics or interactive work for judging is Thursday March 8th, 9 pm East Campus Graphics Lab (2-215).

Rules for entering work:

  • You may submit up to 2 pieces from each graphics course you have taken within the last year on any campus.
  • Entry is free so we encourage everyone to submit.
  • Fill out an entry form and attach one to each piece you are submitting, making sure to follow the directions provided on the form. You can pick up the forms in the East Campus graphics lab.
  • Work done in Fine Arts courses have different entry requirements, judges and delivery location, though, the timeline is the same. Contact your art professor or the gallery curator for more information on submitting work done in Fine Art coures.
  • Although done by hand, work done in GRA2156 Illustrating should be submitted to the Graphics Dept. since it is a Graphics course.

Preparation for submission:

  • Print work should be professionally mounted onto black-on-black matte board. Sloppy presentation can affect the judging process, so it is recommended that you take pride in how you mount your work.
  • Interactive work does not need to be printed or mounted and should be submitted as a working files on a CD or DVD.
  • 3-D work, such as packaging design should be assembled and/or matted, however it is recommended that you submit an assembled piece.

Work not selectd for the show should be picked up in the lab no later than March 15th or it will become the property of the College.

If you have print work selected for the show, your work will need to be mounted and ready to hang no later than April 4th. Instructions for how the work is to be prepared will be provided in the lab.

Show opening and awards ceremony will be on April 20th, in the East campus Atrium/Gallery and the PAC.

do over-size posters, like the ones from typography class, still need to be mounted?

Last year the large typography posters were not mounted. So because they are so large no, but if they are accepted you will have to mount/frame them for display.

If you want to submit a campaign, is each piece of the campaign considered one? Meaning, if I have two campaigns, each containing three pieces, and I want to submit both; do I have to just submit one piece from each campaign? Or could I submit the whole thing?

Tyson, you're only allowed to submit two per class - so in that class I'd submit the campaign as one piece. Last year the judges did choose for one of the campaigns which was entered separately to be displayed together. So we don't quite have a "campaign" category but the judges will make that call. My advice is if there's more than two - go ahead and mount them together as a campaign or submit only two separately.
